Build the foundation
Improved MaxHP Increase first; max Power Strike and Slash Blast.
Party tank with spear or polearm. A practical v83 route from beginner through the fourth-job advancement.
Dense maps and party PQs are excellent. Golems, Drakes, and Zombies suit Slash Blast and later Fury.
| 1–10 | Maple Island questsFinish the beginner quests and leave once your first advancement is available. Magicians advance at level 8. |
|---|---|
| 10–20 | Henesys Hunting Ground or local town mobsSlimes, Orange Mushrooms, Pigs, and Green Mushrooms are simple early targets. |
| 21–30 | Kerning PQ or Ant TunnelUse Kerning PQ when a party is active; Horny and Zombie Mushrooms are the dependable solo route. |
| 30–50 | Carnival PQ or Victoria/Ludibrium mobsCPQ is fast when populated. Wild Boars, Jr. Wraiths, Chronos, and Stone Golems are reliable fallbacks. |
| 51–70 | Ludi Maze/Orbis PQ or dense solo mapsForest of Golem, Drakes, Coolie Zombies, Mu Lung dummies, and Ghost Ship 2 all work. Pick a map you can clear without downtime. |
MapleVerse runs boosted EXP, with another 2× from Premium. Move on whenever clear speed drops; PQ choices depend on finding a party.
Improved MaxHP Increase first; max Power Strike and Slash Blast.
Chosen Mastery 5 → Booster 6 → Mastery → Iron Will 3 → Hyper Body → Booster. Put leftovers into Iron Will or the second weapon path; avoid Final Attack.
Start Spear Crusher for the mainstream bossing path, or Pole Arm Fury for six-target grinding. Max the chosen attack before branching; Dragon Roar follows well.
This is a practical priority order, not the only viable build. “Max” means take the skill to its v83 cap; prerequisites still apply.
STR is primary; add DEX only as needed. Spears favor Crusher, polearms favor Fury, and a hybrid costs extra SP and equipment. Hyper Body makes party training attractive.
Simple rule: choose the next weapon you want to wear, meet only its secondary-stat requirement, and put the rest into your main stat. Low-stat and statless builds trade convenience for funding.
The third job follows your second-job branch automatically. MapleVerse’s current Holy Stone script does not consume a Dark Crystal, unlike original-era guides.
On advancing, Dark Knight receives Monster Magnet, Achilles, and Beholder.
These routes award the skill itself or its skill book. Complete the full sequence, then use any awarded book from your USE inventory.

Any fourth-job skill not listed above is learned from a USE skill book. Speak to Abdula (NPC 9209000) to see the books your character can use and the monsters that currently drop each one. For level-20 and level-30 mastery books, visit Norman (NPC 2080003) in the Free Market; his shop sells the level-20 books for 10 million mesos and level-30 books for 20 million mesos.
The fourth-job quest order, requirements, and skill rewards were checked against Quest.wz and MapleVerse’s advancement and skill-book NPC scripts.
