Hard-hitting crossbow user with freezes. A practical v83 route from beginner through the fourth-job advancement.
Where to level until 70
Use long platforms where Iron Arrow can line up six targets. Chronos, Windraiders, and dense PQ rooms are natural fits.

What skills to pump
Define the path
Iron Arrow 1 → Crossbow Mastery 5 → Booster → Mastery → Iron Arrow → Booster → Power Knock-Back → Soul Arrow. Skip Final Attack.
First third-job priorities
Blizzard 1 for freezing, then Strafe and Arrow Eruption. Raise Blizzard for duration, then Mortal Blow, Golden Eagle, and Puppet.
This is a practical priority order, not the only viable build. “Max” means take the skill to its v83 cap; prerequisites still apply.
Stats to pump and equipment
DEX is primary. Crossbows commonly need STR around your level. Low-STR/pure DEX depends on STR gear or Maple crossbows; crossbows trade speed for stronger hits.
Simple rule: choose the next weapon you want to wear, meet only its secondary-stat requirement, and put the rest into your main stat. Low-stat and statless builds trade convenience for funding.
Where to change jobs
- 1st jobAt level 10, meet Athena Pierce in the Bowman Instructional School in Henesys.
- 2nd jobAt level 30, return to Athena, take her letter to the Bowman Job Instructor near the Road to the Dungeon, collect 30 Dark Marbles, then return to choose your path.
- 3rd jobAt level 70 with earlier SP assigned, meet Rene in El Nath’s Chief’s Residence. Return to Athena, defeat her clone through the Door of Dimension near Sleepy Dungeon V, and exchange the Black Charm for the Necklace of Strength. Return to Rene, complete the Holy Stone quiz at Holy Ground at the Snowfield, then bring back the Necklace of Wisdom.
The third job follows your second-job branch automatically. MapleVerse’s current Holy Stone script does not consume a Dark Crystal, unlike original-era guides.
Unlock Marksman
- 1. Level 120Be a level-120 Sniper with your earlier job advancements complete.
- 2. Get the letterSpeak to your third-job instructor in El Nath. Their recommendation starts the 6920–6924 advancement chain.
- 3. Visit LeafreTake the letter to Legor in the Forest of the Priest, Minar Forest. Keep speaking to progress the story quests.
- 4. Pass the trialBring the Heroic Pentagon from Manon and the Heroic Star from Griffey. If you need help with the two items, speak to Chief Tatamo in Leafre.
- 5. AdvanceReturn to Legor, accept the advancement, and leave one USE inventory slot free for the skill book.
Skills unlocked by the advancement
On advancing, Marksman receives Sharp Eyes, Marksman Boost, and Blind. Speak to Legor again to receive Snipe, Frostprey, and Piercing Arrow.

Any fourth-job skill not listed above is learned from a USE skill book. Speak to Abdula (NPC 9209000) to see the books your character can use and the monsters that currently drop each one. For level-20 and level-30 mastery books, visit Norman (NPC 2080003) in the Free Market; his shop sells the level-20 books for 10 million mesos and level-30 books for 20 million mesos.
